The Best Crafts Kits to Learn a New Hobby
Knitting
I remember as a child watching my grandmother sit in her chair and knit for hours upon hours. Knitting has become one of those long lost arts that most women used to know how to do, and has somehow become a hobby of the past. However, companies like We Are Knitters has made it so easy to try and pick up this hobby. With step-by-step instructions and everything you need in one box, it’s never been easier.
Crocheting
I honestly never knew the difference between crocheting and knitting until recently. Even though both are methods of looping yarn together, they are two different methods. I still have a crochet blanket that my grandmother made to this day in my living room and it’s so warm! With the Lion Brand Yarn One and Done Kit Crochet Cowl you can easily learn crochet techniques and come out with a really cute scarf!
Painting
Painting is a great way to express your thoughts and feelings creatively, and they say that painting really helps sharpen your mind. Plus there are many different techniques of painting so you can always play around with different techniques until you find one that works best for you and your style. The US Art Supply painting kits comes with everything you need down to the easel and canvas.
Jewelry Making
Jewelry making has come a long way since I was a child with my little jewelry making kit. Now your kits can have you making jewelry that looks like it came straight out of a department store. I love Madewell for clothing and had no idea they made jewelry making kits. These jewelry kits have you making stunning jewelry.
Embroidery
I tried embroidery a couple of years ago and couldn’t seem to get the hang of it, but may if I would have had a kit like this one from…, I would have a little bit more success. Maybe I’ll drag out my embroidery needles and give it another shot! I already love Etsy for anything and everything homemade, but there are some great embroidery kits available on Etsy. Like this one where you can make some really cute modern flowers and plants.
Sewing
Sewing is probably top of my list to learn this year. I have dreams of sewing my own pillow covers and curtains. Sewing kits are hard to find, and of course you will need your own sewing machine but if you have that on hand there are some really affordable sewing kits around to get your started….like this one that is oh so cute!
Candle Making
I took an interpretive history class in high school and learned how to make bees wax candles, which I thought was just so cool. These candle making kits have made it even easier than that, and can have you making some of your favorite scents in just a weekend. This CrafyZee DIY Candle Making Kit looks like it has everything you need to get started!
Hand Lettering
I got a little taste of hand lettering at a workshop I attended a couple of years ago, and I was amazed at how easy it was to make those pretty brush stroke letters. Wildflower Art Studio has a complete kit for you to get started and it’s award winning!
Homemade Bath Bombs
These are some of my favorite DIY pampering products to make at home. I have even shared my own easy recipe for Homemade Bath Bombs before, but it seems that kits are popping up everywhere and you can have everything you need in just one box. Another great Etsy shop, Lizush, has the most beautiful Bath Bomb Making Kit!
Paper Flower Making
These are so easy and fun and you can make so many different varieties. Even my 9 year old son who came home from school art class was so proud to present me with a paper flower he made for me, so it can definitely be fun for the whole family. The Green Vase has beautiful paper flower kits that look real!
