It’s been less than 4 months since moving into my new build. During the building process I made sure to do things that I knew would be a pain to change after construction was finished. Since my budget was far from unlimited there were things I had to hold off on and add to my list for down the road. From the moment I knew I was moving into this house the wheels have been turning on the plans for each and every room. So come along with me as I take you along for my first ever home tour of The Grove house.

Entryway decor

Guess it’s fitting that we start in the entryway. I honestly don’t see much changing here in the near future. I think down the road I will add some trim details which I plan to DIY, so I’ll be sure to take you along when that happens. The entryway at my old house definitely had more wall space than the new one, but I am really loving the bookcase here.

Transitional Living Room Decor & Design

The living room is feeling a bit bare, but I have big changes coming in the near future. This will probably be the first room to get a makeover. The plan currently is to find possibly a combo of two bookcases to go on each side of the fireplace. I am thinking the two bookcases would look great, but I also think a bookcase on one side and then a chest with a mirror on the other will also look good. The plan is to also get two new couches as well as a new coffee table.

I loved the current living room furniture in my old house, but I think it is not the right fit for this room layout. Here are a couple of other angles of the living room.

Bright living room

Neutral Living Room

Let’s move on into the kitchen. The main living space is open and family orientated. I wanted to make sure when we had people over that I was able to entertain while I was cooking. The kitchen, living room, kitchen table are all in one large room.

Neutral Kitchen

I never used the dining room in my other house, so I wanted to make sure every space in the new house was functional. I opted to make my home office where the dining room would be and just have a table in-between the kitchen and living room.

Large kitchen with tall cabinets.

Really, other than getting some countertop stools for the island, the kitchen will not be an area I do much to in the future.

Open Kitchen with White cabinets

Taupe Range Hood

I love the nail head design on the backsplash. I think it gives the kitchen an English country kitchen feel.

Kitchen Sink with Polished Nickel Faucet

I am also obsessed with the push button light switches and brass plates I decided to use throughout the house.

Moody Home office

Just off the living room is the home office. My old home office was in my dining room, so I’m glad to have a designated work space in the new home. I plan to DIY some built-ins on one wall and add wood beams to the ceiling over the next year.

White Laundry Room

It’s always hard to take a picture of a dark laundry room, but I did my best. You can’t really tell the color of the cabinets, but they are a light green from Farrow and Ball called French Gray. My plans for the laundry are some sort of drying rack system above the washer and dryer and then down the road some built-in lockers.

White Bathroom with Black Floors

Behind the bathroom I will be adding a little shiplap detail with some sort of wallpaper around the tub. The ideas are flowing so I can’t wait to take you along on this DIY.

Large Bathroom Wood Vanity

Probably my favorite part of the bathroom is how the dark wood vanities look with the dark floor. I love bathrooms with natural light, but I also want them to feel warm.

Bedroom with white walls

Lastly brings me to the bedroom. My favorite design element of the bedroom is the vaulted ceiling. The majority of changes coming for the bedroom are just adding in art and a few new furniture pieces. Eventually I plan to add some wallpaper and maybe even paint the walls a moody warm color.

French Country Style House Exterior

Well that’s it for the first ever Grove House tour and all the plans I have to make it feel more like home! I can’t wait to take you along with my plans and see in a year from now how far the house has come!

It is a beautiful house, and with your imagination & craftyness, I’m sure it will turn into a real beauty. What a great kitchen stove. I love the pulls & knobs on the cabinets.
