I can’t believe how quickly this One Room Challenge is going by….too quick! For those of you just joining, the One Room Challenge is hosted by Linda at Calling it Home twice a year. The One Room Challenge is where bloggers decide to make over a room in six weeks and share their progress every week for six weeks. I am participating for the first time as a guest participant and there are so many talented guest participants also joining the challenge and I recommend going here to check them out!
I found that my original posting timeline for this challenge keeps getting messed up. Projects I planned to already share aren’t completed so that means sharing things I didn’t originally think about sharing until the reveal. For instance, I wasn’t planning on sharing my Ikea chest hack or my chalk paint chandelier originally and was planning on having two posts on my DIY built-ins (which are coming slower that I thought). Since most of my posts during the One Room Challenge have been DIY projects I thought I would share something on the decor side for the office, plus I found a beautiful vintage rug that is too pretty not to brag about!
My heart skipped a beat when I laid eyes on this vintage rug at the Nashville flea market. I had been looking high and low for the perfect rug for my home office. The walls and most of the furniture in the home office are either a dark or light gray color so I knew I wanted the rug to stay with that theme. I knew in my mind exactly what I was looking for, but couldn’t seem to find it. Everything was either too dark, had a weird pattern, didn’t look like the picture, or the color seemed off.
As I was walking through the flea market not really looking for anything in particular, my eyes met this rug and it was like love at first sight! Since getting it home I have laid it out in the room around the furniture, and so far it all seems to blend together very well. I can’t wait to see how it all looks put together in two weeks!
With this week being a little crazy for me at work, I am finding myself working late at night to try and get everything done. Almost all of my DIY projects are completed, with the last of the DIY built-ins being completed this weekend and after that really the only left is for me to put everything in place and grab a few decoration pieces for the office.
Here is my inspiration board again for a visual of my inspiration:

Hi, Holly! That rug is gorgeous! I cannot believe you found it at a flea market! Good luck in the last two weeks. 🙂
Thank you! I know, I got lucky…I never find rugs there so I was surprised!
What a score!! that rug is awesome, I can’t wait to see your office all done. Thanks for sharing with us!
It was a great find….hopefully it goes well with the office. We will see in a few days!
Yes, the rug is a real asset! I believe the cupboard and the chair are the best matches for it
Thank you!
Though the DIY built-in Ikea cupboard you mentioned in the beginning (https://lifeonsouthpointedrive.com/ikea-rast-chest-hack/) would also make a nice match! Perhaps it can be distressed in the Provence country style. What do you think?
That is a good idea! I still haven’t decided what I am going to do with the Rast Chest. I really like them, but I didn’t like them in my office so I’m still trying to decide! 😉
